Cheap electric guitars, or beginner acoustic guitars - it matters not what sort you've got, you will still need to provide fixes every once in awhile. Whilst I cannot imagine any of the original delta blues guitarists having anything apart from their old guitar and the shirt on their back, today it is a very different story and there are certain things that the time conscious and careful guitarist will need in their toolkit to ensure the playability is maintained and importantly any maintenance uses little time. Therefore if you don't possess unlimited time on your hands, or prefer keeping it genuine like all those early pioneers of the guitar I'd personally say that you probably have to be having, or perhaps have access to the next things nearby in order to keep your trusty guitar in tip top shape: First off you ought to be carrying strings in the gauge you like and for the guitars you're playing. So if you play cheap electric guitars carry the right gauge strings and if you are playing bass guitars some suitable different strings will be required.

Next, you ought to be taking a look at a decent multi tool such as a deluxe blade that features flathead as well as cross head drivers, pincers, angled snips (perfect for urgent cable strips) and also a nail-file for the finger nails!! Also for the cost of such things its is probably worth investing in a set of real diagonal cutters for trimming off changed strings. They work a little more easily than the ones on the multi-tool. As you will know it is sometimes surprising just how strong strings can be and these will make light work of cutting the string after replacing. For the ¼" nuts on jacks and also guitar effects boxes I have one small ring spanner and hand screw-driver because I notice that they undo routinely. One small hand towel is beneficial for rapidly care of kit. In particular perspiration along with grime which swiftly builds up and quickly corrodes as well. Extra plectrums you can keep in an old tobacco tin along with rogue screws, bolts and washers that just appear to turn up without any seeming point of origin. An item which is often overlooked will be spare 9v batteries. They are used in pedals and in the preamp on acoustic guitars and will exhaust at the most inopportune moments.

I would say that these are the most important items to have on hand if you are either at home, practicing or perhaps gigging. If you fancy a bit of overkill then you could also go for the following.

Lubricant is great for putting on new strings as you replace them. It stops them from breaking while you are putting them on and also you could have some sort of string cleaner which does extend the useful life of a string and prevents oxidisation setting in.Hexagonal Keys in various (but appropriate) sizes if the multi tool does not have them are useful. They're particularly great for repairs round the pickup area.If you wish to get your guitar restrung in fast time and you may have offered the road crew the evening off consider acquiring a battery operated guitar string changer. Be sure to take the extra battery packs for this however, if not it's going to be rather pointless.

And so, many points to try to remember if you would like be sure that the cheap electric guitar stays in good health, but do not forget about the carrier to help keep all of it !!
